Heritage Park News Want to Help? KAHS FALL ACTIVITIES The KAHS FALL FESTIVAL on October 17th at Heritage Park was well attended. Though the number of vendors participating was down this year, a good time was had by all. The weather turned a bit "nippy" which just served to add to that fall atmosphere that we are all so anxious to celebrate after our long hot summer. Congratulations to Barbara Janzen, the lucky winner of the quilt raffle. The quilt was pieced by KAHS members and Providence Homemakers club. Barbara has experienced a run of good luck dating back to 2007 when she also won the KAHS quilt raffle. Maybe we should all have Barbara buy our lottery tickets for us. Our Appreciation to all those who participated, vendors, entertainers, KAHS volunteers, and community members who attended. Bloodnet USA, Providence Fire Department, Polk County Sheriff's Dept K-9 Unit, and the Polk County Elections Office. At our September 26 BBQ Dinner, the sound of good music and the aroma of good food filled the air. During both events, the old time spirit of community was ever present as new and old friends mingled and laughed together. KAHS VOLUNTEERS! The satisfaction of a job well done; new friends; community pride; but most importantly...the opportunity to help move forward the KAHS train of progress. The Fall activities detailed above do not happen without the help of many volunteers-before, during, and after the various events. It requires many long, hard (and fun filled) hours of work to plan, set-up and clean-up in addition to the actual "day of" activities. There is a dedicated group of core volunteers who can always be counted on, and while we do not name them here, (they don't do it for the recognition), we do appreciate them. Join us-you are WANTED! LOOKING FOR SOME HELP! I am looking for some help in a few critical areas. We are in dire need of a volunteer coordinator who would help with maintaining our volunteer help and records. I also need someone who would like to cook spaghetti sauce for our spaghetti suppers. Because of health issues, several of our regular cooks who have been filling this position for years can no longer cook. We are always looking for more help. If you would like to give us a couple of hours a month, please let me know. (816-7070)
